Nils Landgren is known as one of the world's top trombone players, a well-respected traveler of music genres ranging from jazz, rock, and big band to soul and hip-hop. By his own reckoning, he has performed on at least 500 albums by such international stars as ABBA, Eddie Harris, Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, Wyclef Jean, Herbie Hancock, Joe Sample, and more! He is also a permanent member of legendary jazz band The Crusaders, who are in the midst of planning a November 2007 tour. Licence To Funk is a collaboration with US star Ray Parker Jr. (Ghost Buster), who co-produced the album.

Nils Landgren was born in 1956. He began playing drums at the age of six. At 13 he layed his hands and lips on the trombone and was hooked for life. Between 1972 and 1978 Nils studied classical trombone at the music college in Karlstad with David Maytan and at the university in Arvika with Ingemar Roos.
